Our extra-curricular highlights
The SRC
The Student Representative Council (SRC):
- is elected by the students
- represents students on school committees
- has a voice in decision making
- raises funds for student facilities
- is an advocate for Mosman High School students
Students can join various working parties including environment, welfare and sport. Student input and viewpoints are invaluable. The SRC regularly attend planning days, engage in vigorous discussion and develop interesting proposals to enhance student engagement at school.
Music tutoring and ensembles program
In addition to our Stages 4-6 music curriculum, Mosman High School offers a special music-tutoring program to students in areas such as: drums/percussion, guitar/bass guitar, woodwinds (clarinet, flute and saxophone), piano, vocal and brass (trumpet, trombone, lower brass, French horn).
Students can join one of our music ensembles which rehearse on a weekly basis. The ensembles are an extracurricular activity which are funded by membership fees. Ensembles include: choirs/vocal groups, jazz ensembles, string ensemble, concert bands and specialist ensembles (including guitar ensemble and percussion ensemble). Our ensembles perform at a range of school and community events throughout the year.
The music ensembles program is administered by an ensembles manager who works closely with the music faculty to set the direction for the program and ensure the program complements classroom music. They work together to create positive music experiences for the students. Parents actively support the program with fundraising and logistics tasks as coordinated by the music team.

Gifted Sport Program (GAT Sport)
The Mosman High School’s P&C Sport Committee has, with the support of the school, developed a Gifted and Talented Sport Program for Mosman High students to provide additional opportunities for engagement in sports outside of school hours. Currently students can enter the GAT program for basketball, futsal, and rowing and the committee is open to broadening the program based on student interest and parent support.
These teams compete in regular weekly local competitions and train at school (either before or after school) once a week. Volunteer parents manage the teams. An external coach generally coaches these teams and so a cost is involved for participation.
These teams are not just for experienced players, but for any student who wishes to play a team sport for the school. Trials are run for selection into these teams.
Our GAT basketball program has participated in a number of overseas and national tours. In 2023, 2024 and 2025 two teams were sent to the Gold Coast to compete in the National Australian School Championships and our GAT program also feeds into the NSW Interschool Knockout Competition where our U15 boys team had great success. In 2024 and 2025, our Year 7 girls team came in first place in their division of the Manly Warringah Basketball Association competition and in 2025 our Year 8-10 mixed girls team won first place too. In 2025 our Year 9 and Year 10 boys teams also won their season one competition. Overall, between 12 and 15 teams are competing each season and over 100 students are taking part in the program.

Debating
The debating program is open to all Years 7-10.
Our debating club runs after school from 3:30-4:30pm. Students are given the opportunity to participate in school based debating competitions. We also provide opportunities for all students to participate in a number of state based competitions.
Through the guidance of a coach, students who join the debating club will develop and enhance their persuasive skills, confidence in public speaking and working as part of a team. These skills foster lifelong learning and assist students in learning about goal setting, communication, taking a leading role and gaining a broader and deeper perspective of the world around them and the issues which face us on a daily basis.
We have a proud tradition in debating at Mosman High, with one senior team becoming state champions and another team being runners up.
Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh award provides a fantastic opportunity for students to make an impact in their wider community and to gain skills and confidence in themselves. Mosman High School is a proud award centre that delivers the Duke of Edinburgh award to an excellent standard.
Meetings are held through the course of the year - however, most time is spent working with participants on a one on one basis. Pupils are assisted in setting their goals and designing their program, electing assessors, setting up their online record book - and are given ongoing support, assistance, guidance and encouragement. All levels are offered - Bronze, Silver and Gold. Subscriptions from participants monies are remitted to DoE.
‘Volunteering/community service’ is available via assistance in our school library.
Art skills have art staff as assessors — and likewise for PE skills.
We facilitate the expedition/excursions – this is out-sourced to providers e.g. Collaroy Centre.
During and on conclusion of the program the participants’ record is monitored and validated to get the award. Their progress is closely monitored and ‘signed off’ on the online record book. We participate in (full day) professional development/accreditation courses at Homebush.
Certificates are presented at assemblies (unless pupil prefers ‘no ceremony’).

Environment
Mosman High’s Enviro Group is a dynamic and active group of students who participate in many conservation and fundraising projects throughout each year. Past activities include Clean Up Australia Day, Athol Beach conservation and land regeneration projects in Sydney Harbour National Park, planting of natives in a new Memory Park Discovery Garden, and Middle Head ‘Save Our Species’ project in conjunction with Taronga Zoo. The opportunities are endless as you can volunteer with the Enviro Group whilst completing your Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Outside school sport
The Sports Committee arranges a sports market day early in the year for Years 7 and 8, where local clubs are invited to attend and present their clubs to students.
Mosman High encourages students to register at local clubs to ensure all round sporting achievements. Whole Mosman High School student teams have had great success in local competition as part of these clubs.
